Isaiah Stewart

Isaiah Stewart II, born and raised in Rochester, New York, is a professional basketball player for the Memphis Grizzlies of the NBA. His basketball journey began at McQuaid Jesuit High School before he transferred to La Lumiere School in Indiana, where he became one of the nation’s top high school players and earned honors including Naismith Prep Player of the Year and Mr. Basketball USA.

Isaiah went on to play at the University of Washington before being selected 16th overall in the 2020 NBA Draft. He spent the first six seasons of his professional career with the Detroit Pistons before joining the Memphis Grizzlies in 2026. He has also represented the United States internationally, helping Team USA win a gold medal at the 2018 FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup.

Giving Back to Rochester

Isaiah’s commitment to Rochester is deeply personal. As a youth, he attended Bishop Dr. Burnice Green Sr.’s after-school program, where he received tutoring, meals, mentorship, and support that helped shape his development both academically and personally.

Years later, after learning that the program had lost its funding, Isaiah made a significant investment to help bring it back for a new generation of Rochester youth. Together, Isaiah Stewart and Dr. Green helped establish the Isaiah Stewart Learning Center, continuing the same mission of education, mentorship, enrichment, and opportunity that played an important role in Isaiah’s own life.

Through the Learning Center, Isaiah continues to give back to the community that helped shape him, providing young people with the resources, encouragement, and support they need to learn, grow, and build their own path toward success.
